1ST YEAR OF M.A. in Buddhist Studies (Bhot Baudh Darshan) and Bhoti/Tibetan Language and Literature.

Candidates who have passed 12th standard/ Uttar Madhyama from a recognised institution with Tibetan? Bhoti Language or without Tibetan / recognised intuitions with Tibetan/Bhoti language or without Tibetan/Bhoti language as a subject, but posses knowledge of Tibetan/Bhoti language equivalent to standard 12th Uttar Madhyama will be eligible to appear in B.A. 1st year.

Candidates who have passed B.A./Shastri standard from a recognised institution with Tibetan/Bhoti language or without Tibetan/Bhoti language as a subject, but possesses knowledge of Tibetan /Bhoti language equivalent to standard B.A./Shastri will be eligible to appear in M.A. 1st year.

Students seeking admission at Songtsen Library may apply on plain paper on or before 11th july 2019.

The students called for counselling will have to bring the documents mentioned below:

a) Attested photo copies of mark sheet
b) Character certificate from the institution last attended
c) Fitness certificate

During the counselling the student will be given a prescribed form, which he/she will fill up and along with demand draft of Rs. 50/= in favour of Director, Songtsen Library.

d) Admission will be granted to successful candidates based on marks obtained in the counselling and availability of seats.

e) For the purpose of admission, monks, nuns and laity are treated equal and admission is based solely upon merit as reflected in the counselling candidate.

f) Admission of girl students will be subject to availability of accommodation.

g) The admission of students admitted will be considered provisional, and will be confirmed only upon submission of their original School Leaving Certificate/Transfer Certificate, Fitness Certificate. Character certificate from the institution last attended, mark sheets ect. within 15 days from the release of the list of the candidates offered admission. Candidates who are unable to submit the required certificate/ documents within the stipulated time must submit an application to the office. The competent authority may, after examining the authenticity of the case, grant the candidate an additional 15 days beyond the period specified for the submission of original documents.

h) The reservation of seats for SC/ ST candidates is as per UGC norms.

i) Incomplete application forms shall not be entertained and application fee etc. will not be refunded

Director of Songtsen Library confer with Global Mahasaddhamajotika Award 2019

Recognising his devotion, dedication and commitment towards the development of Buddhist Art & Culture, the Swami Vivekanand University, Meerut and Younker Historical Research Foundation’s Global Mahasaddhamajotika Award 2019 was conferred to Dr. Tashi Samphel, Director, Songtsen Library. On the occasion, His Excellency Moe Kyaw Aung, the Ambassador of Myanmar to New Delhi was the chief guest. The award ceremony was held on 29 March 2019 at Subharti University, Meerut, UP, India. 

Most Ven. Waryama from Myanmar and Prof. K.T.S. Sarao were also awarded along with Dr. Tashi Samphel for their long service of social welfare through the nonviolence preaching of love and compassion.

Earlier the award was felicitated upon H.E. Moe Aung, Ambassador of Myanmar to India, Hon’ble Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, Dr. S.R. Bhatt, Chairman, Indian Council of Philosophical Research, Most Ven. Thich Nhat Tu, Rector, Vietnam Sangha Buddhist University, Vietnam.

Dr. Jann Ronis, Executive Director BDRC visits Songtsen Library

4th March, 2019, Dr. Jann Ronis, Executive Director of Buddhist Digital Resource Center (BDRC ) formerly know as TBRC visited Songtsen Library. He praised Songtsen Library for providing ideal facilities for aspirant students pursuing their studies on Tibet and Himalaya.
On 5th Feb. morning, have gave a talk on themed “Buddha in the Cloud- The Tibetan Digital Resource Center.” He shared with the audience how Gene Smith, the founder of Tibetan Buddhist Resource Center (TBRC) dedicated his whole life preserving precious Buddhist texts in digital form. He also talked about their present initiatives and future missions.

Students Visit from University of Pittsburgh, USA. [10 Oct. 2018]

A group of students along with Professor from University of Pittsburgh USA, came to visit the Songtsen Library on October 10th 2018.

Ven. Khanpo K. Sherab welcomed them warmly and made a literary tour of the entire library, He gave an extensive introduction on the book collections and the other important manuscripts stored & preserved in the Library. Students were greatly impressed by the library’s environment and the ideal facilities the library provides for researchers and students.
