Under Graduate Degree Program

Undergraduate studies are for those who have completed Higher Secondary School (10+2) or equivalent from any recognized board/university, but have not earned a Bachelor’s degree, or for those who have completed a Bachelor’s program in a different discipline and now want to join a program of Buddhist Studies. By the end of the BA program, successful students will have developed a broad knowledge of the Indo-Tibetan Buddhist tradition and its historical and philosophical development, and a deep knowledge of the Tibetan approach to Buddhist philosophical study. In terms of language ability, depending on the emphasis placed by each student, he or she will be conversant in modern Tibetan and Bhoti, able to read classical Tibetan and Sanskrit, and follow teachings directly in Tibetan, or possess some combination of these skills.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have completed Higher Secondary School (10+2) or equivalent from any recognized Board/University are eligible to apply for the program and should visit the Admissions Section of this website before applying.
Please note that applications for the BA program are accepted twice a year, in July and in December.

Three years Degree Course in Buddhist Studies and Bhoti/Tibetan Language & Literature which will be conducted in the form of Annual System.

Note:

  • There shall be twelve papers (Four papers in each session) in B. A. three years course. Apart from 12 papers, a paper on Environmental Studies in first year shall be compulsory to all students as per University/ UGC norms.
  • The Examination will be as per University Schedules.
  • Each paper shall have 100 Marks (25 marks for internal test and 75 marks for final Examination).
    • 3rd division above 36% of marks in aggregate of all the papers 36% to less than 45%
    • 2nd division will be awarded to those students scoring above 45% Less than 60%
    • 1st division will be awarded to those students scoring 60% and above.
    • Distinction shall be awarded to those students scoring 75% and above.
